A few of you have been asking, and yes we are still in a hotel :). It's honestly getting better and better as time goes on. It's like it's so bad it's good. It is starting to feel like home somehow, maybe because our gps automatically updated the location to "home" in Jason's phone or because Everly lights up whenever she hears the front desk staff talking. Whatever the reason, we are thankful for the roof over our heads. I have also made some great friends here in Rochester who are keeping me sane and getting me out of the hotel, and the wives/girlfriends on the team that I have met are so amazing (one girl is even from Winkler - smallest world ever)!
One of the women I met introduced me to The Public Market, which is Rochester's year round farmers market. I honestly don't understand how it's year round. Like it gets cold here, with snow, and the market is outside. I'm from Winnipeg and that doesn't even make sense. I guess I'll have to wait and see.
Going to a farmers market when you don't have a kitchen is kind of like torture, but thankfully there are some goodies I can buy and keep in my mini fridge. I can't get over how cheap everything is either! There are so many different kinds of fruits and veggies, like squash I haven't even seen before. I can't wait until I can start cooking with all of these veggies! (neither can Jason ;))
Trying to keep warm!
Brussels sprouts on the stem are like decoration.
Dozens of different kinds of apples!
Today I just went to pick up some Larabars. Weird I know, when I first saw them I was like one of these things doesn't belong. But they are made with 100% real food so I'd say it's okay that they're there! The reason I got them from there and not the grocery store is because they were SO cheap. Usually a box of 5 is upwards of $5, but this guy was selling 3 boxes for $5!! At first I was like okay these will be expired, I may have to pick off a few pieces of mold, but totally worth it. Low and behold, not expired and no mold! Winner winner. I grabbed a few other things I knew I could eat and store in the hotel as well. I got all of this for $10!
Already looking forward to a post I can share with you guys where I can actually cook with the ingredients I get at the market!
