Hush Weighted Blanket

Jason and I have been talking about getting a weighted blanket for years! We have done a lot of reading on them and they have so many benefits. We also know how important sleep is to your overall health and do everything we can to get at least 8 hours a night. I have also always loved the feeling of a heavy blanket, it makes me feel so cozy for bed. There are so many different companies that sell them now, but I decided on Hush Blankets because they are based in Canada and have created a perfect product. I am so impressed with every aspect of this blanket. We decided on the 20lb queen size blanket, which is perfect for us.

Benefits of a Weighted Blanket:

  • they can help reduce anxiety

  • improved sleep as you move around less and fall asleep quicker

  • great for athletic recovery as it reduces cortisol level while you are sleeping (why Jason wanted it)

  • if used during the day it can help increase focus

I personally wanted to try one now because pregnancy insomnia is real! I always wake up in the middle of the night and have the hardest time falling back to sleep. My mind also races before I go to bed and I find it hard to turn my mind off. Since using the Hush weighted blanket I have seen such an improvement in my sleep! The only downside is that I never want to get out from under it. It's SO cozy and calming.

Here are some of my favorite things about the Hush Weighted Blanket:

  • the cover is so soft and cozy, one side is quilted and the other is smooth

  • the cover is removable so you can wash it

  • the weight is evenly distributed and doesn't feel heavier in one spot

  • the design is pretty so I can keep it out on my bed and it looks good

  • my sleep has improved so much, I stay asleep longer and fall asleep quicker

Questions from you guys:

  1. The weight of it helps you fall asleep?

Yes! The weight of the blanket holds you in place and gives you a calming effect like being held. It helps you not roll around as much at night and get into a deeper sleep.

  1. What do you do for people who are sharing the blanket with different weights?

Opt for the weight that the heavier person would use, unless it is an unsafe weight for the other person. They recommend 10% of your body weight, and if you're between sizes you go up. I got a weight that would be good for my husband and it isn't too heavy for me!

  1. How hot was the blanket while sleeping?

Not hot at all! It's thin and breathable and I didn't get too hot. I'm pregnant and I easily get overheated and this did not make me too hot!

Let me know if you guys decide to get a weighted blanket and how you like it!

Best,

Stacey
